Johnson VA Medical Center as an Outpatient Psychiatrist.
As an outpatient Psychiatrist, you will provide expertise in several aspects of general psychiatry and will focus on the evaluation of veterans who suffer from a variety of mental health conditions including but not limited to post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, dementia, substance abuse, and other related conditions.
Review psychiatric consults in an outpatient setting.
You will be working with Physician Extenders, Nurses, Psychologists, Social Workers and other health care staff to provide high quality, continuous, and consistent outpatient care.
The incumbent will monitor and evaluate patients as appropriate for change in status.
Maintain policy orders or notes as appropriate (e.
g.
DNR, medication reconciliation and encounter form).
In addition, the incumbent will coordinate the clinical care of mental health patients and work in collaboration with Primary Care, Medicine Specialists, Physical Medicine staff, and Surgical Services, and others in the care of their patients.
Facilitate communication among patients and their families and VA and outside primary care physicians, hospitalists, and specialists/subspecialists.
The incumbent will also provide consultation on psychiatry related concerns from services within our facility, and communicate and collaborate as appropriate with outside providers and facilities.
