Physician - Associate Chief of Staff for Education

OGJVA Medical Center is currently recruiting for a Physician, Associate Chief of Staff for Education/Designated Education Officer (ACOS/DEO), Chief of Staff Service. Board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and/or Family Practice strongly preferred with a minimum of 2 years' experience in the management of educational programing. This position will be responsible for all health professions training as an education leader in providing oversight of all trainees, including graduate medical; management of all clinical training program affiliations; education activities for graduate training programs in medicine or psychology. Duties would include Veteran patient care, including particularly as the attending or record/faculty member for patients seen by medical trainees.
Additional duties include Didactic Sessions; educational activities; research; literature searches; assigned independent study; attendance at committee meetings (e.g., quality improve or pharmacy committees; participation in root cause analysis teams; scholarly activities as part of an accredited training program; and approved educational details.
Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. - may vary

Physical Requirements: This position requires light to moderate lifting (15-45 lbs); light carrying (15 lbs. and under); reaching above shoulder; walking; bending; stooping, and some lifting in the direct care of patients; ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; hearing (aid permitted); emotional stability; mental stability; working closely with others and working alone.

Basic Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in educational program management.
  • Board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and/or Family Practice

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
