Physician - Hospitalist/Urgent Care

The Hospitalist/Urgent Care Provider of Medicine Service provides care to all Veterans within the facility in adherence to set standards and privileges.

  • Follows guidelines to ensure compliance with Medicine Services clinic management of policies, procedures, SOP's, related to Medicine Services.
  • Assists as needed in system redesign project efforts to ensure changes and effective improvements as needed.
  • Compliance with Nationally established quality indicators and monitors
  • Compliance with Medicine Service Infection Control policies, ensuring staff are in compliance with accurate tracking, monitoring of all records for auditing and timeliness.
  • Medicine Service physicians will comply with required Non-VA Care procedures.
  • Clinically, provides a complete range of medical care to patients to include; Urgent Care, Hospitalist services.
  • Performs Medical care to a diverse group of Veteran patients
  • Performs duties as a medical clinician to a degree improving the quality of life is improved by his/her interaction
  • Performs duties within scope of practice to the standards set forth by the Clinical Executive Board (CEB) as well as the Medical Center by Laws
  • Effective leadership in the application of care of the Veteran with effective decision making skills
  • Maintains the lines of communication between referring practice clinics to maintain and ensure continuity of care.
  • Guides patients and families in obtaining the best service and information is accurate for both internal/external sources
  • Must be proficient with typing for utilization of the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), utilizing message manager, and view alert system
Work Schedule: Various - 24/7 coverage to include nights, weekends and holidays

Basic Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Physical Requirements: Walking, bending, stooping, and some lifting in the direct care of patients. There may also be extended periods of sitting.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
